We are currently seeking for a Junior Professional Officer to fill the position of Data Analyst within the Data Services branch of WFP’s Technology Division based in Rome, Italy.
CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND
Technology and connectivity are rapidly reaching some of the most vulnerable people and places affected by crisis, but they are also increasingly expanding to the services responding to those same crises. As one of the main humanitarian actors, WFP has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works. Data and technology are indeed helping WFP reach vulnerable people more quickly and effectively. Data is a key enabler and the ability to collect, safely store, govern, manage, and transform data to support better decision making for WFP activities and foster new innovations.
The Technology Division (TEC) has embarked on a transformation journey to become a flexible, customer-centric, digital leader. Data Services is a foundation stone of the WFP plan aimed at enabling the business to make data-driven decisions to inform strategic direction, analysing the success of initiatives and impact of WFP operations while ensuring data security and privacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Data Services, the JPO Data Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

SUPERVISION
The guidance and supervision provided to the JPO will be based on regular daily interaction, yearly work plan stating activities and expected outputs, and attending technical meetings and workshops.
The JPO will familiarize themselves with their role and responsibilities by way of closely working with the Chief of Data Services and the related team, as well as other WFP divisions, as needed. This will enable the incumbent to gain more knowledge and experience in specific operations as well as enable him/her to have a hands-on approach to the various projects, their development, implementation and eventual roll-out. All of this in-line with WFP’s policies, procedures, and guidelines throughout.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Most training and learning will present itself through the incumbent’s full involvement in projects and operations and in conjunction with his/her supervisor. A thorough induction at the beginning of the assignment would provide a highly useful introduction of the data and products team and its mandate and role in the humanitarian community. In addition, close collaboration and working relationships with colleagues specialised in data will ensure that the JPO is familiarised with the various aspects of WFP operations globally.
