Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Security Adviser (SA) and the Field Security Associates (FSAs) the Senior Radio Operator provides operational support to UN personnel in the monitoring of missions from the Security Operations Centre (SOC).

The Senior Radio Operator also collects relevant security information for the analysis of trends and supports the FSAs in the supervision and daily monitoring of the activities conducted by SOC.

Follow-up of the daily operations of the Security Operations Centre (SOC), monitoring compliance with operational policies and the progress of administrative tasks, and addressing operational issues and concerns in a timely and client-oriented fashion, to ensure operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
   Supervise maintenance of proper registry system
   Provides support to UN personnel in dealing with security situations and register the actions taken.
   Supervise monitoring of field missions of UN personnel
   Liaising with local authorities to address security events
   Monitoring the local news network and informing the Security Adviser of any security- related issue.
   Distribution of security-related information to UN personnel.
   Preparation of security incident reports when UN personnel require support from the Operations Room.
   Follow-up of the daily activities of the Operations Room conducted by the Radio Operations, as instructed by the SA.
   Provides general administrative and operational assistance to the SA and the FSAs
   Performs other additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • Secondary educationis required
Experience:
  1. Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, computer or related field, with technical or higher education.
  2. Experience in Microsoft office packages is required.
  3. Experience in operations control rooms and monitoring in humanitarian field missions.
  4. Desirable experience in the security area of United Nations organizations, NGOs, private international organizations or embassies.
  5. Desirable experience in research and studies in the maps y geolocation designing,
  6. Language requirements: Spanish and intermediate knowledge of English is desirable.
Please note that continuance of appointment beyond the initial 12 months is contingent upon the successful completion of a probationary period.
