Job Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the IT Operations Officer, the incumbent will deliver a wide range of processes and activities to facilitate effective service delivery in the area of Information Technology. The duties include but not limited to: standard software and hardware support services; monitor and maintain a wide range of information sources, to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services; installation and decommissioning of computer equipment and software as needed; acting as the initial focal point of contact for the help desk, responsible for tickets assignment and escalation. In addition, the position will be dealing with IT asset management and procurement.

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

  • Carry-out system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as back-up system data and system protection, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
  • Undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems to ensure a consistent delivery of IT services to staff.
  • Respond to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology.
  • Receive and inspect all incoming assets and report discrepancies in IT materials inventory to senior colleagues to ensure materials are effectively tracked.
  • Perform basic beta testing and support the roll out of new versions of centrally supported software to ensure software is operational for WFP staff.
  • Ensure information is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, websites, and archives in order to support senior officers in managing these systems.
  • With direction from senior colleagues, collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation and web content, to contribute to the availability of information about services and products.
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures as required to provide support in enabling emergency food assistance needs to be met.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. University degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or other related field is desirable.

Experience: At least four (4) years of progressive experience in the IT support, system administration and networking with one (1) year of experience directly linked to helpdesk and ticketing systems support.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic languages.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365 applications and products.
  • Very good Knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking concepts
  • Experience in helpdesk procedures and ticketing systems including resolving hardware and software-related problems.
  • Experience with server administration and maintenance
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn with high adaptability to new changes and technologies
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow clear instructions
