Responsibilities:
The internship is in the Web Services Section of the News and Media Division of the Department of Global Communications. The section is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and overall support of the UN’s flagship public internet website www.un.org, and many related sub sites that are managed by the Department of Global Communications (DGC). Within limits of delegated authority, the intern will be responsible for one or more of the following duties: ? Under the guidance of a supervisor, undertake ad-hoc research into the website metrics of www.un.org and associated website properties, providing insights into website performance and audience engagement. ? Develop dashboards and data visualizations. ? Perform content analysis across UN system websites. ? Investigate tools and techniques to facilitate aggregation of content from across UN system websites. ? Make recommendations on tools and technologies. ? Implement automated processing of data capture and manipulation using scripting technologies (e.g. Python) where applicable. ? Utilize generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, to manipulate and generate web content. ? Develop custom GPTs based on the needs of UN Global Communications. ? Create automated content production pipelines via scripting techniques utilizing generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT.
Requirements:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must also: -Be computer literate in standard software applications – Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter -Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. A completed online application (Cover Note and Personal History Profile) is required. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The Cover Note must include: ? Degree Programme (What are you currently studying) ? Graduation Date (When will you graduate or when did you graduate from the programme) ? Explain why you are the best candidate for this specific internship ? Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
