Responsibilities:

The Communication and Multimedia Officer is required to deliver the following:

  1. Contribute and collaborate on the development and implementation of communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans, with a specific focus on multimedia production approach (photo, video, graphics, audio, text), including proposing creative, innovative ideas for the promotion of INFF activities, in line with new trends in web communication.
  2. Content production of original multi-media materials (photo, video, graphics, audio), including digital publications (graphic presentations, infographics, graphic reports/manuals), social media posts (images, graphics, text), audio/video podcast, full video production including design/storyboard, shooting, editing, post/production, strategic publication (reels, clips, short documentaries, interviews), creation of professional photographic libraries.
  3. Consolidation of a reliable and consistent media portfolio & promotional materials for collaboration/partnership for visibility and dissemination.
  4. Design, develop, implement, disseminate communication and outreach/advocacy products pertaining to the project activities on social media channels and websites. Administering all social media accounts & website regularly.
  5. Analyse social media channels/websites and prepare reports based on monthly KPIs to enhance the media strategy using a data-driven approach.
  6. Develop brochures, graphic factsheets, stories from the field to inform media partners and  the public at both the country and regional level.
  7. The  Communication and Multimedia Officer is expected to perform the following technical tasks:

Communication Materials

  • Contribute and lead in the implementation of the project’s communication strategy and work plan.
  • Arrange and consolidate information and data from the project staff and relevant national stakeholders for use in communications materials.
  • Gather content and coverage of efforts to identify effective project activities and results.
  • Develop complementary, country specific and local community materials and activities.
  • Support the production of communication materials (e.g., project briefing notes, images, video. Web pages etc.) that meet the country and HQ standards.
  • Draft and edit articles and human-centric stories and other advocacy/information materials for both web-based and online media, as appropriate.
  • Follow up on the production of advocacy and communication materials (e.g., videos, audio-visuals, etc.), and oversee the qualitative aspects of production, (e.g., quality control, reviews of layout and graphic design etc.) to meet standards as set out in the UNDP Communication and Branding guidelines.
  • Recommend appropriate information and communication materials for use in media, and other advocacy and communication activities.
  • Recommend established networks, resources, and processes to support communication activities.

Media relations

  • Contribute  in drafting and editing articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials in all media formats, as appropriate. Prepare background communication and promotional materials for briefing and visits of media and other special interest groups. Assist in the planning, logistic and administrative arrangements for them.
  • Facilitate in collaborating with the media through activities such as organizing project site visits, facilitating photo coverage and video footage and utilizing both web-based and multimedia media as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials. Maintain a library of coverage (photos, videos, and clippings) related to the project.

Monitoring and evaluation

  • Guide  in coordinating appropriate audience research and compiling and analyzing relevant data.
  • Undertake lessons learned review of successful and unsuccessful communication experiences as directed by supervisor.

Partners, and special events

  • Organize and conduct special events and activities to promote project goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate  in developing and maintaining close collaboration with mass media, as well as with groups and organizations whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and communication objectives of the project.

Education:
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Digital Media, or other relevant disciplines is required. OR
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree
Experience:
  • Up to 2 years (with master’s degree) or minimum 2 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant professional experience  in coordination of multi-sectorial programming, graphic design, monitoring and evaluation and media relations is required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in community engagement and development
  • Experience and extensive knowledge of documenting social and institutional processes

Desired Skills:

  • Practical experience in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Premere Pro, etc.)
  •  Practical experience in multi-media software for preparing videos and sound recording
  • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management;
  • Knowledge and experience with websites and content management systems
  • Experience and knowledge in media and reporting protocols
  • Experience and good understanding of mass media and communication networks in forestry, climate change, and environment;
  • Experience and good knowledge about branding;
  • Experience in working with UN agencies and international organizations

Required Languages:

  • Fluency  in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
