This post is located in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Nzerekore, Guinea. The incumbent reports to the Field Security Coordination Officer and to the OHCHR head of Country Office in Guinea.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Assists and facilitate the implementation of security policies and procedures under the direction of the Field Security Coordination Officer and provide safety orientation to newly assigned staff members as required. • Assists the Field Security Coordination Officer in the collection and updating of information related to the security situation in his area of responsibility. • Assists in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of training courses, drills, and other security exercises. • Assists in the completion of the Security Risk Assessment (SRA), implementation of country Security Risk Management (SRM), Security plan, and other security documents. • Assists in Warden security exercises and store this information. • Assists in identifying and recording United Nations assets and number of staff and dependents. Ensures that staff members and their dependents are kept fully informed on matters affecting their security and safety. • Conducts security assessments of office and various other situations (events, VIP visits, etc.) at the request of the Head of Office and Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO). • Maintains regular contact with Department of Safety and Security (DSS) and the security focal points of UN agencies. • Performs other duties as required by the Field Security Coordination Officer and Head of OHCHR Guinea Country Office.

Good knowledge of communications technologies, including VHF and HF radio systems, satellite telephony and cellular telephony. Ability to work confidentially in residential security assessments and make recommendations for the RSM (Residential Security Measures) program, taking into account trends and threats in duty stations. Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Job – Specific Qualification
Specialized security training is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in security with a military, national police, or private security company is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) year for candidates who possess a first-level University degree or higher. Experience working within the United Nations common system, similar international organization or an international security management organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in French (both oral and written) is required, knowledge of English is desirable. Knowledge of a local language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
