Plan International PNG Office is seeking to hire a full time Disaster Risk Management Coordinator. The role will monitor and provide capacity-building support to the program and partner organisations to ensure quality processes and outcomes, with a particular focus on striving for best practice in child rights, gender equality and inclusion. The role reports to Country Programme Manager based in PIPNG

  • Understanding of development and aid issues and trends in the PNG context, particularly in Bougainville.
  • Experience working on disaster risk & resilience and/or disaster response programming in Papua New Guinea
  • Ability to deliver results while working autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity-building of local NGO and/or CBO partners in Papua New Guinea.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships and partnerships to produce results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce succinct written reports.
  • Understanding of and ability to develop strong partnership relationships with government and civil society organizations
  • Understanding of, and/or experience in, rights-based approaches and previous international experience with child rights issue

  • Awareness and appreciation of building and nurturing stakeholders and partnerships
  • Naturally passionate about the development sector in PNG
  • Natural initiative and self-motivated
  • Ability to work on your own with little supervision
  • Strong development and DRM project management skills and experience, including the ability to adjust work plans and drive implementation of activities
