Action Against Hunger USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network. As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania,

Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and Haiti.

I. Job Summary

Purpose: The Recruiter will support Action Against Hunger USA in outreach, recruitment, and selection activities for US-based vacancies and proposal contingent hires. This role involves working with employees throughout the organization and managing HR tools, databases, employee files, and organization charts. The Recruiter will assist with recruitment, training and onboarding, scheduling, database management, and answering staff inquiries.

Engagement: The Recruiter will focus on talent attraction and sourcing, candidate engagement, screening and selection, employer branding, data reporting negotiating key vacancies in both US offices and country offices. The overarching goal is to build

a pipeline of emerging talent that can grow and advance within the organization, contributing to the long-term success and sustainability of Action Against Hunger – US.

Delivery: The Recruiter will be the primary contact with Human Resources and Business Development staff for contingency recruitments and internal recruitment. They will coordinate and collaborate with the HR department, engaging with hiring managers, candidates, and industry compliance and best practices.

The Recruiter will ensure an effective recruitment strategy, while efficiently leading recruitments for US-based and contingency hires for

USG Bids

1. Recruitment Management 40%

  • Conduct recruitment strategy meetings with Hiring Managers to understand job requirements and expectations.
  • Create and post vacancy announcements on appropriate job boards.
  • Screen applicants to assess knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Coordinate candidate screenings and panel interviews.
  • Build and maintain a candidate pipeline for hard-to-fill positions.
  • Support country offices and HQ stakeholders’ awareness of recruitment practices.

2. Organizational Intelligence 30%

  • Research NGO

    and developing markets for job posting opportunities.

  • Track and report key recruitment metrics.
  • Maintain a guide of customized interview questions.

3. Talent Management & Acquisition 30%

  • Ensure accurate migration of hired applicants from ATS to HRIS.
  • Provide input and solutions for recruitment challenges.
  • Improve the organization’s appeal through online media and candidate feedback.
  • Exchange relevant information with Human Resources and Business Development teams.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods and to concentrate on work, including typing, and turn out heavy volumes of work accurately, within short time frames under stressful situations in the context of a moderately noisy office with interruptions.

VI. Working Conditions, Travel and Environment

  • The duties of the job require regular job attendance at least five days per week. Must be available to work

    outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required by contact with the missions, mission security, or other obligations.

  • Must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business travel as well as to the missions if appropriate. While visiting the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well is to infectious diseases.

VIII. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Learning and Development, International Studies, or a transferable field.

 

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

IX. Required Skills & Experience

  • Three to five years of recruitment experience
  • Experience conducting remote interviews.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system (ATS)

    or Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using social media and online recruitment tools.
  • French or Spanish proficiency strongly desired.
