JOB DESCRIPTION

Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Integrated Office of the Office of the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator (henceforth the Integrated Office) for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central Africa Republic (MINUSCA). The incumbent will be based in Bangui and will report to the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator (DSRSG/RC/HC).
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Principal Coordination Officer (Head of Integrated Office) will be responsible for the following duties: o Acting as the Head, thus leading and coordinating the overall management of the Integrated Office of the DSRSG/RC/HC to ensure efficient and effective substantive coordination support to the Integrated Office, UN Country Team (UNCT)and the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT). o Supporting the DSRSG/RC/HC on triple nexus opportunities across the system and actively identify and support triple nexus programmatic approaches, including connecting humanitarian development and peace efforts strategically, with a view to ensuring coherence between peace consolidation and sustainable development. o Promoting integration between MINUSCA, the UNCT and HCT. including through joint analysis planning. monitoring and reporting, including: • Guiding integrated analysis and planning processes for the UN presence • Deepening partnerships between Mission Planning Units. JOC/JMAC and the RCO/UNCT • Ensuring synergies are developed between the programmatic work of the UNCT and the Mission • Ensuring cross-cutting issues are integrated across the UN wide • Ensuring the work of the PBF is fully aligned with the strategic vision. as set out in planning documents o Supporting transition planning and monitoring as required. o Initiating, establishing and coordinating external partnerships and joint resource mobilization efforts. o Developing Risk Management practices for the UN presence, supporting robust risk-informed analysis and planning, due diligence and information sharing aiming to improve programme implementation, informed decision-making, fiduciary accountability, do-no-harm and open dialogue with partners. o Supporting the DSRSG/RC/HC on prevention of SEA and other system-wide priorities.

Education
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration, or related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in political affairs, diplomacy, international relations, conflict resolution, coordination, law, development management, disarmament, security, human rights. humanitarian. or a related field is required. Excellent and proven management skills are required. Extensive experience in political outreach, facilitation, analysis or reporting is required. Experience in working in a Unite Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping, political missions and UN agencies. funds and programmes) in a conflict or post conflict is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in both English and French is required.
