The Private Sector Partnerships Office of the UNHCR in Toronto is seeking an Individual Giving (IG) Retention Intern. An internship with UNHCR Canada means the candidate will engage in the daily activities of the team and gain real world experience while making a difference in the lives of people worldwide. Working with professional fundraisers and the Administration & Operations team in Canada, interns will immediately embrace real, meaningful assignments. The candidate will apply their educational knowledge to real-life situations while being urged to use own creativity in their own work.

This intern position will report to and work with the PSP Individual Giving Associate.

Minimum qualifications required and key competencies:
• Eligible to work in Canada [Authorization in writing to work in Canada under the Federal Immigration Act (valid work permit)– Canadian Residents )– Canadian Citizens]
• University degree or college degree in progress (at least 2 years of Study) or completed within the last 24 months. Education must be at a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO. A Degree in Communications, Marketing or International Development is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good computer skills, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of or experience in database entry/management an asset
• Fluency in written and spoken English. French language skills are a strong asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Direct Marketing: Assist the retention team in fact checking and sourcing fundraising materials – for direct mail and email appeals – in various UNHCR shared portals, information websites and UNHCR media bank.
• Creative Support: Assist the retention team in circulating assets and consolidating creative feedback.
• Data Support: Submit monthly data selections to internal data team, check data outputs and submit to vendors. Support the retention team in performing direct mail data checks and reviewing live samples.
• Reporting Support: Assist digital team in email reporting and KPI tracking.
• Administration: Helping with general administrative work and other tasks as requested.
