How can you make a difference?

The Internship support will focus on the following overall tasks:

  • Provide support in the Designing, planning and implementation of SBC activities.
  • Regular monitoring and assessment activities according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of the SBC programme.
  • Contribute to terms of reference, research tools, frameworks, and protocols for generating evidence to inform SBC initiatives and apply tools, methodologies and frameworks for data collection, tracking, monitoring, and reporting and disseminating SBC.
  • Support data collection, tracking, monitoring, and reporting SBC results and prepare syntheses of results.
  • Support in the capacity building of community engagement in the sectors by organizing training for partners.
  • Assist in establishment of community feedback mechanisms and use feedback to inform community engagement and SBC actions for disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience. Generate and use SBC evidence, data, and assessments for disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience.
  • Support the identification, dissemination, and adoption of best practices and innovative approaches and technology in SBC. Support their integration in programme approaches and support SBC and sectoral teams in implementing them.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to provide operational and technical support to evidence-based strategies and develop, test, produce and use quality SBC materials, organize events and activities to ensure community engagement and participation, and maximum outreach and impact on behavioral and social change.
  • Provide support in assessing potential contacts, networks, resources, and tools to support maximum impact and outreach of SBC initiatives.
  • Follow up and monitor the production of SBC materials to ensure technical quality, consistency and relevancy of communications materials that are developed, produced and disseminated to target audience (e.g., individuals, communities, government officials, partners, media etc)
  • Build and maintain partnerships through networking and proactive collaboration with self-determination and to pursue opportunities to promote UNICEF mission and goals for child rights, social equity, and inclusiveness.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness and response as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  1. Education

A university degree (Bachelor’s) in a public health, social and behavioral science including sociology, anthropology, communication studies/communication for development, psychology, Education and/or related field is required.

  1. Work Experience
  • Strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Excellent in digital literacy and computational skills.
  • Some level of experience relevant to programme development and implementation including monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities
  • Desirable Requirements:
    • Experience in research.
    • Field work experience.
    • Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
  • c. Language Proficiency
  • Fluency in English and the local working language is required.

    Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

    1. Area of expertise requirement:

    Knowledge of Project Management, especially of the Monitoring and Evaluation phase.

    Proficiency in using computer applications (database, word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, project planning, e-mail, graphics etc.) is required.
