The ITER Organization is opening multiple vacancies. The selection process will be conducted with the objective of filling the three below vacant positions with also the purpose of drawing up a reserve list of rostered candidates for future vacant positions. The reserve list initially remains valid for two years, with the possibility of extension at the Director General’s discretion.

Overview

Do you have an interest in the assembly coordination of large superconducting magnets, vacuum vessel and other tokamak components? Join our team within the Engineering Services Department (ES. The ESD provides the required skilled engineering resources or services, which are necessary to the successful completion of the ITER Project. You will work on the Machine Assembly Coordination Project, which is focused on the assembly of large mechanical components in a clean environment, where you will work on site coordinating and supervising the assembly contractors.

As machine assembly coordinator your goals include:

 

  • Organizing the activities of multiple contractors in the same area/building, with special attention to safety, cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Developing detailed space and crane allocation for onsite activities as per the project priorities
  • Arranging support services such as scaffolding, lifting and handling, and logistics

Key Duties, Scope, and Level of Accountability

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates on site machine assembly contractors, allocates space and cranes to best fit all needs;
  • Develops short term coordination plans and proactively adjusts the plan in case of unforeseen issues;
  • Establishes logistics plans for the storage/entrance/exit of the tools and components;
  • Ensures that activities are performed according to agreed safe methods;
  • Enhances work communications inbetween all worksite machine assembly stakeholders (safety, assembly contractors, construction management, lifting, logistics and scaffoldings team.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supervises activities performed by contractors and reports progress as required;
  • Works on any other transversal task, which could be necessary during the course of assembly execution.

 

This position is to support shift work and crucial to maintaining continuous operations and ensuring the highest level of service for our stakeholders. This may require shift rotation including day, evening, and night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays, depending upon project or team needs;

Experience & Profile

    • Minimum 7 years’ experience in coordinating or supervising assembly or construction activities
    • Essential competencies and experience required for success in the role:
      • Worksite coordination or supervision
      • Nuclear plant construction and/or large experimental device assembly
      • Practical knowledge of health and safety and environmental protection
      • Ability to facilitate dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders
    • Desirable competencies and experience:
      • Knowledge of vacuum and/or cryogenic technology
  • Education:
    • Essential: Bachelor or equivalent in engineering or construction;
    • The required education degree(may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.
  • Language requirements:
    • Fluent in English (written and spoke.
