The Europe and Central Asia (ECRegion
The World Bank Group works with countries in Europe and Central Asia to eliminate poverty and promote shared prosperity, through boosting human capital, enabling markets, facilitating green transitions, and building & strengthening institutions.
The Europe and Central Asia (ECregion comprises 30 diverse countries, with a population of nearly 500 million people. Majority of the countries are high and upper middleincome countries with only three being lowincome IDA countries. ECA has an active portfolio of 258 projects with net commitment of around US$47 billion and a strong lending pipeline. Knowledge is critical to the Bank’s value proposition to client countries in the ECA region. A predominantly middleand highincome region, the ECA region is at the vanguard of building regional connectivity while having to manage the changing structure of the labor market and the impact of the ongoing COVID19 pandemic. Country Management Unit (CMfor Western Balkans
The Western Balkan CMU maintains and fosters all operational relationships with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bi, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. The Regional Director oversees the program from the Vienna office, and the CMU has offices in each country headed by Country Managers.
The Sarajevo Country Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The World Bank portfolio of active projects in BiH comprises 9 operations totaling around $500 million. Areas of support include health care, road modernization, employment and social protection, energy efficiency, local infrastructure, and environment.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina CPF (FY2327) was endorsed by the Board on July 19, The new CPF program based on the SCD and the emerging impact of COVID19 identifies three broad areas that will guide the WBG’s engagement even beyond this CPF cycle. The first area will aim at increased inclusive private sector employment, the second at improved sustainable service delivery, and the third on supporting BiH with improving its resilience to climate change.
The Sarajevo Country Office consists of 20 staff from all Practice Groups and other units. It is led by Country Manager overseeing the World Bank programs in BiH and Montenegro.
Duties and Accountabilities:
The Team Assistant (Tfor Bosnia and Herzegovina will report to the Country Manager (Cand will work closely with the Bosnia and Herzegovina country team as well as to other Global Practice teams as necessary. The TA will also provide back up support to other ACS team members, especially during peak periods.
