How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Ghana seeks a Digital Communication Consultant to enhance our online presence and reach our target audiences, with a particular focus on youth engagement. The consultant will help implement a digital strategy to increase awareness of children’s rights across UNICEF porgrams, mobilize support, and engage stakeholders, including through the UReport platform. Additionally, the consultant will manage and optimize digital platforms, keeping them active, relevant, and aligned with UNICEF’s goals. By producing engaging content, the consultant will facilitate knowledge sharing and showcase UNICEF Ghana’s impact and best practices to partners, donors, and the public.
Scope of Work:
  • Support the ddevelopment and implementation targeted digital media strategies and manage UNICEF Ghana’s digital platforms with UNICEF Ghana digital officer.
  • Create engaging content by converting complex technical information into visual narratives.
  • Contribute to UNICEF’s strategic communications plan and outreach strategy.
  • Share the latest digital communication trends and advise the team on how to effectively share ideas, experiences, and achievements.
  • Design and execute targeted social media campaigns.
  • Factcheck and proofread social media content.
  • Create graphics and videos using design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesigand video production tools (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effect.
  • Support UReport youth engagement, youth advocacy, and website maintenance.
  • Filing and organizing photos onto UNICEF WeShare photo system

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or highein  in communication studies, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field is required
    *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in  with international organizations in a similar capacity
  • Outstanding digital content creation
  • Experience in Photography and videography is required
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanisor a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverag. Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicabland health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fullyvaccinated status against SARSCoV2 (Covid19) with a World Health Organization (WHendorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
