An overview/environment map of the current partnership and engagement landscape of UNCT; derive clear, robust and localized recommendations and strategies for resources mobilization and partnerships building, based on the information gathered during the mapping exercise.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background To support and inform the United Nations Country Team Partnership Strategy for the Acceleration of the SDGs and the six transitions and in accordance with the outcome of the Nigeria UN Country Team Retreat held on 67 June 2024, the UN Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator is seeking a consultant to conduct a comprehensive mapping exercise of the partnerships and engagement landscape of the whole UN Country Team in Nigeria. The mapping exercise is expected to provide an analysis of external partners; analyze UN partnerships to determine comparative advantage and value proposition and leverage such partnerships to enhance UN effectiveness in Nigeria. The mapping exercise outcome will contribute to identify new partnerships and opportunities for synergistic and enhanced partnerships between and among UN agencies both programmatically and thematically as well as geographic spread of UN assets in the country. Reporting Line The Consultant will report to the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office in carrying out the key responsibilities of the assignment in close coordination with the UN Working Groups on Monitoring and Evaluation, and Communications. Location/Duty Station The work will be done remotely. One field travel LagosAbujaLagos. Conduct a mapping exercise of UN Country Team external partnerships landscape • Carry out preliminary stakeholder consultations, desk research and data analysis for the mapping exercise. • Focus assessment on UN agency partners including bilateral and multilateral donors, International Finance Institutions (IFI, Private Sector and Civil society organizations (CSOand other stakeholders • Distinguish key partners, thematic focus, what activities they currently involved in. Identify and analyze potential risks/challenges to partnership strengthening, including competing mandates Develop a comprehensive matrix of UN’s external partnerships Collate all information gathered during the mapping exercise in accordance with the relevant SDG Provide an accurate understanding of the uptodate partnership’s situation both internally and externally. Administer interviews with UN staff to analyze perceptions and identify key insights from staff to further strengthen the process. Facilitate broad participation of UN staff in the mapping exercise in order to build a sense of ownership and buyin. • Overview of existing key partnerships and actions that are taking place and identify programs and strategic projects aggregated by specific SDGs.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent degrein sustainable development, economics, public policy, public administration, law, social sciences, or related field is required. A firstlevel university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience on sustainable development issues, including experience on partnerships is required. Experience in preparing written outputs on sustainable development issues is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
