The Security and Safety Services of the UN City as part of the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) works to enable the conduct of United Nations activities while ensuring the safety, security and well-being of personnel and the security of United Nations premises and assets in Denmark.
The Security and Safety Services of the UN City is managed by UNOPS on behalf of the UN in Denmark.
Under the overall command of the Deputy Security Adviser for Denmark, the Security Guard reports directly to the Security Associate and is responsible in assisting in monitoring the physical security as well as ensuring the compliance with security policies at the United Nations Premises in Copenhagen. The security guard is expected to take a proactive approach to prevent security and/or safety related incidents to follow operational instructions given by the Security Associate (SA) and/or the Deputy Security Adviser (DSA).
It is the main responsibility of the Security Guard to perform patrols, man the control center and perform post duty both indoor and outdoor at the UN Premises. The holder of this position is expected to respond to alarms and incidents in accordance with the instructions and guidelines given in this document and in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the respective post. The Security Guard is expected to be visible throughout the duration of the shift on a 24/7/365 basis and to report to the supervisor and (if possible) prevent and/or mitigate any event with potential impact on UN operations. The holder of this position must be prepared to work irregular hours (including night shifts over longer periods). The Security Guard will at times be expected to perform supervisory duties, will also be expected to work independently and make informed decisions in accordance with established safety and security procedures.

Education:
A Secondary degree and/or mandatory AMU-course for Security Officers or relevant UN, police, military, or Fire Department training is required.
Experience:
A minimum 2 years of relevant experience with the UN, a security company, the police, the military, or the Fire Services is required.
Driving license from the appropriate issuing authorities.
Language requirement:
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language and/or Danish is an advantage
