Market Systems Development (MSD) and Climate Team Lead, Jamaica

ACDI/VOCA is seeking an MSD and Climate Team Lead for an upcoming Increasing Resilience of Island Economies activity in Jamaica funded by USAID. The anticipated program will strengthen communities, key economic sectors and Jamaica’s enabling environment to prepare for climate change and disasters.

The MSD and Climate Team Lead will design and implement market-based approaches to enhance economic resilience and develop climate adaptation strategies. They will engage with local stakeholders, oversee the project’s technical implementation related to market systems and climate resilience. The program is anticipated to start in 2025 and this position will be based in Jamaica.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of market-based approaches to enhance economic resilience and sustainability in key sectors
  • Develop and promote strategies that integrate climate resilience into market systems, ensuring sustainable economic growth
  • Promote innovative solutions and best practices in MSD and climate resilience
  • Collaborate with private sector partners, government agencies, and community organizations to foster inclusive and resilient market systems
  • Provide training and technical assistance to local stakeholders on MSD and climate adaptation
  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of market systems interventions, ensuring they meet program objectives and deliver measurable impacts
  • Promote a culture of innovation and learning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, environmental science, climate change, or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in MSD, climate adaptation, or relevant field.
  • In-depth understanding of MSD, climate change impacts, and resilience-building strategies.
  • Previous experience with facilitation and collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Jamaica required.
  • Fluency in English is required.
