We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.
Context
Driven by the principle of “Leaving No One Behind,” United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is committed to supporting equal participation of persons with disabilities through volunteering and raising awareness in this field. In this context, UNV is organizing an information session in collaboration with the European Disability Forum (EDF) to underscore the significance of volunteering opportunities for persons with disabilities within the United Nations system and their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To this end, the support of an online volunteer with professional experience in sign language interpreting is required to guarantee an accessible and inclusive experience for all participants during the session.
Task Description
The main purpose of this online assignment is to provide professional sign language interpreting services to support the “Equal Rights and Participation: Inclusive Volunteering with Envision 2030” event organized by UNV and European Disability Forum (EDF). We are looking for a sign language interpreter online volunteer for a 1-hour event on November 19th. Specifically, the online volunteer is expected to: Deliver clear and accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for deaf and hard of hearing participants during the event. Apply strong expressive and receptive interpreting skills, along with interpersonal and cultural competencies, to ensure effective communication for a diverse audience. Providing sign language interpretation during the event. Supporting the event content to be accessible for all participants. Provide sign language support for the event materials.
