About this position

The Office of Ethics (ETH/ETH) is responsible for providing impartial assistance to IDB Group employees and Management in reviewing and resolving matters regarding ethics and conduct in the workplace to contribute to good governance and helps to preserve and promote institutional integrity.

We are seeking a dynamic, resourceful, and reliable Investigations Consultant to join the Office of Ethics. As an Investigations Consultant, you will support investigators in conducting internal administrative investigations involving allegations of workplace misconduct including harassment, sexual harassment, abuse of authority, conflicts of interest, whistleblower retaliation, fraud and corruption, violations of Bank rules and policies, and other policy violations. You will be expected to conduct these investigations thoroughly and objectively, paying attention to detail, timeliness, and cost control.

What you’ll do

  • Receive and review Misconduct allegations; assess complaints for ETH jurisdiction; assist with investigation plans and strategies.
  • Participate in interviews of staff members and other involved parties.
  • Obtain, review, and analyze relevant case information.
  • Assist in the presentation of findings; draft case documentation; draft, review and edit investigative reports and other work products and supporting documentation.
  • Support the Investigations Team in the data entry of all the information related to allegations into case management system and conduct data analysis when needed.
  • Perform comparative research on law standards and best practices in comparator organizations.
  • Draft and review templates and protocols.
  • Prepare high quality and timely case briefing material for internal and external use.
  • Contribute to special initiatives and projects and other ad hoc assignments.
  • Engage in outreach and education missions to Country Offices.
  • Support ETH in other areas, primarily in training and outreach activities.

What you’ll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: law, compliance, criminology/criminal justice, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of combined similar professional experience, with a preference for experience in one or more of the following areas: investigations of employee misconduct, including harassment, sexual harassment, conflicts of interest, retaliation, and other forms of workplace misconduct/wrongdoing in public, multilateral or private sectors; criminal prosecution, and/or integrity.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
