JOB DESCRIPTION

Context

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of PSU Officer, and in coordination with the Regional Media and Communications Officer, the Senior Communications Associate will assist with aspects of the implementation of internal and external communication, media-related activities, and graphic design production for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tajikistan. This role involves strategic planning, supporting media relation efforts, content development, and enhancing the visibility and understanding of IOM’s work in the country and beyond.

  1. Contribute to the implementation of the regional and national communication strategy in alignment with IOM’s global communication objectives.
  2. Verify that visibility content of the mission is of the highest quality, aligned with IOM’s brand guidelines and is consistent with the Organization’s strategic communications priorities.
  3. Support media relations efforts, including preparing press releases, talking points, media briefings and human-interest stories.
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of social media campaign concepts around international days and relevant events to strengthen IOM’s brand recognition in the region.
  5. Assist the Project Managers and National Officers in maintaining appropriate visibility of the project donors.
  6. Provide graphic design support and relevant presentations assisting with the formatting of information materials and products such as factsheets and infographics.
  7. Support the liaison with partners, UN agencies, and other external entities to enhance collaboration and cohesiveness in communication efforts.
  8. Prepare Power Point presentations and other digital and printed documents necessary for meetings or external presentations.
  9. Perform any other tasks as required.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Law, Political Studies, Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
  • School diploma with seven years of relevant experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
  • Experience as a writer, editor and content producer/manager in international organizations or media corporations is an advantage.
  • Experience in digital communications and social media is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing donor visibility is an advantage.
  • Experience with media liaison is an advantage.
Skills
  • Skills in graphic design, particularly using Adobe programmes an advantage.
  • Skills in photography and videography, both shooting and editing an advantage.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines in a complex and fast changing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
Languages
  • For this position, fluency in English, Russian and Tajik is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
