These positions are located in the Security Section within the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Baghdad. The Field Security Assistant G4 reports to the Close Protection Coordinator through the Team Leader on all close protection issues.
Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Close Protection Coordinator through the Team Leader, the Field Security Assistant G-4 might be responsible for the following duties: • Liaison and Coordination in support of ongoing CPU operations with host government security forces for related movements of the CP team, while providing SUNO protection, ensuring easy access to various locations including movement to the high-risk environment of Baghdad and in the neighboring locations. • Support the advance work, conducting advance survey of sites/venues and alternate routes of SUNO’s intended movements. Prepare and provides inputs for the threat assessment reports. Ensure sufficient gathering of relevant information, information sharing, support in verifying certain information and adequate recording. Where required ensure follow up and provide relevant update. • Support the provision of the physical security at the external venues, overview access control procedures, awareness of safe locations and maintain the readiness status to support the extraction of SUNO in critical situations. Provide sufficient support in mission planning and execution. Provide security brief on specific local aspects and contribute to the first aid to SUNO, if and when required. • Drafts correspondence and maintains records for the Guard Force Security Training Courses. • Assists in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of Guard Force Training, drills, and other security exercises. • Monitors and facilitates the implementation of Guard Force security policies and procedures. • Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness activities, and provides security orientation to newly assigned staff members, as well as • Conducting security briefings, as required. • Conducts access control procedures, patrols, and ensures security of the Mission premises and issues building entry passes as appropriate. • Alerts for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activities and report this immediately. • Conducts radio checks with all security guards on duty. • Any other duty as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent technical or vocational certificate is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
A valid driver’s license is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in security services with a military, police, international security organization or private security company with high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience of driving armored vehicles is required. Experience of driving senior government or senior UN officials [SUNO] is desirable. Experience of close protection operation is desirable
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
Special Notice
These positions are temporarily available until 31 December 2025. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
