Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Front Office and/or the Collection, Analysis and Sharing Section (CASS) of the Independent Investigative Mechanism on Myanmar, the translator shall be responsible for: • providing accurate translation from the English language to the Myanmar language (Burmese) and vice versa as required by the Mechanism of public information documents and materials that will be provided on an ad-hoc basis. • proofreading any translation work that is done by any other translation individual contractor for the Mechanism. • providing timeous translations for use on the Mechanism’s social media channel and website. • meeting periodically with the Mechanism’s language services team to discuss lexicons and other issues. • other tasks pertaining to the use of the Myanmar language (Burmese) as may be required.
Qualifications/special skills
A relevant first level university degree is required. Certification in English and/or one of the Myanmar language would be desirable. A minimum of two (2) years of experience translating from the English language into one of the Myanmar languages, and vice versa, is required. Experience in translating legal, criminal investigative documents or information is desirable.
