The Infectious Diseases Division at icddr,b has focused on controlling enteric and respiratory infections and controlling emerging infections. In addition, studies on enteric and respiratory diseases have been designed based on laboratory and field-based activities. The multi-directional works also include Clinical Trials/Vaccine trials and carry on research on diagnostics.

Position Description:
The Research Officer will report to the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organising and performing specific study procedures to collect high-quality research data within the guidelines of the research protocols and organizational values. S/he will be involved in –

• Plan and organize field visits as per study need;
• Build rapport with the community;
• Identify and enroll study participants following the sampling framework of the study protocol;
• Collection of biological specimens, especially blood, from participants/patients from study sites, receiving specimens from the field team with appropriate documents and transport and sample processing in the laboratory;
• Monitor and track consumption of resources in order to execute research protocols and interventions, and conduct high-quality research;
• Perform data collection following multiple quantitative data collection techniques within the given timeline;
• Check for credibility and trustworthiness of collected data to ensure the quality of data;
• Keep records on a daily basis and update the progress of the study on a regular basis to the supervisor in order to fulfil the study objectives;
• Monitor and track consumption of resources in order to execute research protocols and interventions, and conduct high-quality research;
• Prepare draft progress reports on research work and also work with PI in writing scientific reports and manuscripts as per her/his instruction.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters in Biological Science from a reputed university with very good academic records;
• At least 3 years of experience in relevant fields;
• Candidates will be given preference who have very good knowledge of translation – English to Bengali & Bengali to English, GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and MO-Office operation.

Location: Dhaka.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 01 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual Tk. 7,18,800/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
