Mission and objectives
ERONet (Enabling Rural Opportunity Network), Formally ACDA(Agoro Community Development Association) is a women-centered community-based nonprofit based in Lamwo District, Northern Uganda. ERONet works to empower girls and women in post-conflict and refugee-hosting communities through education, rural innovation, and rights-based development he mission of this assignment is to increase global awareness of ERONet’s work in Northern Uganda by supporting the planning and execution of communication outreach during The Human Race 2025 campaign. This task directly supports ERONet’s core mission to empower rural and refugee-affected girls and women through access to education, innovation, and opportunity. In the refugee-prone Lamwo District, many girls face daily barriers like early marriage, poverty, and lack of access to school infrastructure or digital tools. The Human Race campaign helps spotlight these challenges while promoting grassroots solutions developed by and for the community.
Context
This role supports our participation in The Human Race 2025, organized by our fiscal sponsor HSI. The campaign raises awareness about the importance of girls’ education and grassroots STEM innovation in underserved regions. Your work will help us reach a wider global audience and engage supporters without using paid ads or fundraising appeals—just authentic community outreach and visibility.
Task Description
ERONet is seeking an organized and proactive Communications expert (Outreach Focus) to help us coordinate our messaging and outreach strategy for The Human Race 2025—a global virtual walk/run/ride taking place from August 16–24, 2025. This volunteer will help us build a simple communications calendar and advise on where and how to share the campaign (online communities, WhatsApp groups, relevant networks) to increase global visibility—without direct fundraising. Tasks include: Creating a 3-month outreach calendar (June–August) outlining key posting dates and themes Identifying relevant online communities and groups (e.g., diaspora forums, university clubs, women’s networks) where ERONet can promote the campaign Drafting a list of outreach channels for staff to use Recommending messaging and hashtags tailored to each group or platform Collaborating with the social media volunteer to sync timing and topics Providing weekly progress updates via Google Doc or email The volunteer will work closely with ERONet’s director and other online volunteers (social media, graphic design). You will not be required to send messages or post directly, only to advise and prepare materials for ERONet’s team to use. All communication will take place via email and WhatsApp. At the end of the assignment, the volunteer will receive a UNV Certificate of Appreciation recognizing their contribution
