The salary range for this position is between £31,000 to £35,000 depending on experience and skills.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
As GIS Technical Officer, you’ll play an important role in global biodiversity conservation. Your work will directly support the upkeep and enhancement of the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, a key resource in global conservation efforts.
Key responsibilities include maintaining, preparing and delivering spatial data for the Red List.
This position not only offers the chance to work with cutting-edge GIS technologies but also places you at the heart of efforts to shape conservation policies and practices worldwide.
This position is ideally suited for individuals at the start of their career who are eager to apply their technical expertise towards meaningful and impactful causes.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Maintain and update Red List spatial databases to adhere to IUCN standards.
• Prepare and deliver spatial data for the Red List website and other GIS projects within the biodiversity assessment and knowledge team.
• Organise, process and analyse spatial data for assessment projects.
• Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of GIS tools and scripts.
• Perform advanced GIS analyses and other technical tasks as needed.
• Assisting in the curation and mapping of species distributions, a crucial step required for assessing their conservation status.
REQUIREMENTS
| • Education Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, environmental science or a related field. A master’s degree in a related field would be advantageous. Work Experience • Experience (3 – 5years) with ArcGIS Desktop or similar GIS software. Skills • A thorough understanding of geospatial data management and analysis principles.
