About the job

The Finance Officer is to focus on and ensure Malakal finance compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines at the base level. The incumbent will provide efficient and effective financial management according to DRC’s internal and donor procedures, as per the Operations Handbook. . Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Establish and maintain monthly fund requirements and max/min cash levels.
  • Submit monthly cash flow forecasts to the Juba office.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly physical cash counts, ensuring proper reconciliation with Dynamics and timely reporting.
  • Ensure timely payments to suppliers, staff, and casuals, adhering to DRC Finance policies.
  • Review, post, and pay cash advances, expense reports, PO Invoices, and Cost Invoices in DRC Dynamics.
  • Close open advances within a month and follow advance SOPs.
  • Assist in preparing program and operational budgets.
  • Provide budget holders with reports on posted, pending, and committed expenses.
  • Support budget development for new projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation and upload financial vouchers to SharePoint.
  • Prepare for internal and external audits, acting as the focal point for financial queries.
  • Reconcile transactions with program distribution lists and verification documents.
  • Ensure accurate application of ERP finance processes in Dynamics.
  • Maintain updated journals and ledgers, and create journal entries for Malakal office.
  • Collaborate with Juba to ensure timely staff salary payments and provide technical support to managers.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision., excellent computer skills in MS Word & and Excel, as well as experience working with an ERP system and Sound knowledge of cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business Studies, Marketing, Finance, Accounting Management etc.
  • Computer skills (including MS Office package)
  • Sound knowledge of cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Desirable

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in relevant field INGO or other agencies experience in financial management.
  • Proficiency in the use of automated Financial Management systems and accounting software preferably DYNAMICS.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Word & and Excel, as well as experience working with an ERP system
