Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz, Afrin Idleb, as well as Ankara, Istanbul, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

Emergency Intervention Field Worker x2*

1 hire in Afrin – 1 Hire in Idlib aldana – NW Syria

The position is to be filled by April 16, 2023. Employment/Service location will be 1 hire in Afrin – 1 Hire in Idlib aldana – NW Syria. The position is paid according to SG4 [[paygrade]].

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Officer in the Gaziantep office and the Field Coordinator in Dana and Afrin offices. The field worker works closely with IDPs and host communities in the project location. The Emergency Intervention Field Worker ensures accountability by functional and effective feedback mechanisms. The project aims to support the internally displaced persons and host communities with Emergency Intervention activities in/off camps to ease their access to their urgent Emergency Intervention related needs

Your responsibilities

  • Performs emergency activities according to WHH’s guidelines.
  • Communicates with service providers to ensure effective and appropriate interventions and follow-up.
  • Ensures that assigned activity is implemented successfully and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential beneficiary records and keeps track of all necessary figures and data related to services under Emergency Intervention and respects confidentiality and the rights of the beneficiaries.
  • Takes a role in market assessments, monitoring prices, registration and verification process of beneficiaries in/off camps throughout the project.
  • Provides regular and accurate reporting on Emergency Intervention activities as required and requested by supervisors.
  • Reports all incidents in the field to the Field Coordinator promptly.
  • Works in close collaboration with other members of the team to ensure an integrated approach to meet the other basic needs of the affected population
  • Assists in the implementation of emergency intervention activities to IDPs and host communities in accordance with the agreed project schedule.
  • Conducts the activities such as distribution of ER items (NFI, Winterization, Hygiene kits, vouchers.. etc) in close coordination with the direct supervisors and other WHH teams.
  • Supports the Field Coordinator in identifying suppliers, services and locations needed for the project.
  • The Field Worker is expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to the beneficiaries and to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and Provision of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
  • The Field Worker must ensure all interventions adhere to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, and beneficiary accountability standards.
  • Behaving in mutual respect to other team members as part of work friendly environment.
  • Undertaking other project tasks as required.

Your profile

  • Position open to Syrian nationals only
  • Education: A university degree is required, preferably an Engineering graduate,
  • Work Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience in a similar position, specifically Emergency intervention,
  • Skills/knowledge:
  • Experience in Emergency Response projects and activities.*
  • Experience in conducting assessments *
  • Experience in implementing humanitarian aid distributions (vouchers, cash, NFIs, and/or shelter items)*
  • Experience in using mobile data collection tools, and/or other smartphone applications*
  • Knowledge file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.*
  • Experience working in insecure and remote locations and reporting to remotely located management
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,*
  • Ability to summarize disparate information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Being able to travel.
  • Proven analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Good level of computer literacy.*

    • Language Skills:
      • Fluency in Arabic is required. *
      • Working knowledge of English is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Local Context: Candidates who have work experience and knowledge of the local context in A’zaz and/or Afrin are preferred.
